International Roaming Tips
Although Nuvera Wireless has low international roaming rates, data roaming charges can be steep when you’re traveling outside of the United States. The best way to avoid using roaming data entirely is by following the tips below.
Disable Cellular Data: When you disable your cellular data under Settings before leaving America, you will only be able to access applications that use the Internet via Wi-Fi. Most travel destinations provide free Wi-Fi, so you will still be able to use social media, Facetime, and all other apps once you get connected. By disabling the cellular data, you will not have to worry about additional charges. Phone calls and messages will still come through.
Airplane Mode: Using Airplane Mode will take it one step further by disabling incoming calls, text messages and cellular data. When you arrive in a foreign country without enabling Airplane Mode, you can still incur charges for incoming text and voice messages, even if you don’t answer them. Your phone will still be able to connect to Wi-Fi with both Airplane Mode on and Cellular Data off.
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is your friend when traveling internationally. When connected to Wi-Fi you can use all of your phone’s applications, make phone calls via Wi-Fi, video calls to your friends and family and answer text messages. If you believe data is necessary outside of Wi-Fi enabled areas, roaming charges will apply. A sample of a few countries are listed below. Nuvera representatives can assist in estimating the amount of data you would use via our International Roaming Calculator.
